OverviewLead the design and implementation of enterprise desktop environments, focusing on Windows 11 optimization and lifecycle management.
Key Responsibilities- Lead design and implementation of enterprise desktop environments, with a focus on Windows 11 optimization and lifecycle management.
- Architect and manage device provisioning workflows using Microsoft Intune and Autopilot for zero-touch deployments.
- Administer and enhance MECM (Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager) infrastructure for OS deployment, patching, and application delivery.
- Develop and enforce Group Policy Objects (GPOs) to standardize security, user experience, and compliance.
- Automate desktop configuration, software deployment, and reporting using advanced Power Shell scripting and Desired State Configuration (DSC).
- Integrate Windows Hello for Business, Bit Locker, and Defender for Endpoint into secure desktop baselines.
- Collaborate with security and networking teams to implement Conditional Access and compliance policies via Microsoft Endpoint Manager.
- Manage enterprise application packaging and deployment using MSIX, Win
32 apps, and MECM task sequences. - Provide Tier 3 support and root cause analysis for complex desktop-related incidents, leveraging diagnostic tools and telemetry.
- Document architecture standards, deployment procedures, and operational runbooks for desktop infrastructure.
- Stay current with Microsoft 365 roadmap and Windows servicing models to proactively plan for feature updates and support changes.
The Desktop Architect shall be responsible for engineering and establishing the desktop computing standards for the organization. This individual will research and maintain a stable operating system and desktop application deployment architecture, provide a clear roadmap for future computing requirements, and ensure OS standards meet operational needs through effective troubleshooting and certification. Collaboration with peers, manufacturers, and vendors will support a modern and reliable end‑user computing environment.
Education and Experience- High school diploma or equivalent required; bachelor’s degree in a relevant field preferred.
- Minimum 1-3 years of experience in a similar or related role; equivalent combinations of education, experience, and certification also considered.
- Current industry‑standard certifications preferred:
CompTIA A+, CompTIA ITF+, VMware VCP – Desktop and Mobility, Microsoft Modern Desktop Administrator, Microsoft Azure Administrator, etc.
- Knowledge of desktop hardware and software, system performance tuning, and troubleshooting methodologies.
- Familiarity with security best practices related to desktop computing and OS management.
- Excellent problem‑solving skills with a keen analytical mindset.
- Strong communication skills, able to convey complex information clearly to technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
- Collaborative attitude and ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple tasks.
- Familiarity with helpdesk software and remote support tools.
- Commitment to providing excellent customer service.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple project activities simultaneously.
