Overview
Job Title: Service Now Developer
Location: 5 days onsite in Montgomery, AL
Duration: 12 Months
Description- The Service Now Developer will support the Medicaid Enterprise Systems (MES) project by designing, developing, configuring, and maintaining Service Now applications that align with IT Service Management (ITSM) processes.
- This role will be responsible for building workflows, automations, and integrations to support incident, change, release, and problem management across multiple MES modules.
- The developer will collaborate with module contractors, product owners, and enterprise teams to ensure consistent and efficient service delivery.
- The MES project requires a dedicated Service Now Developer to design and maintain ITSM processes within the Service Now platform.
- This role is critical for ensuring incident, change, and release management workflows are implemented consistently across all MES modules.
- Without this role, the program risks delays in automation, integration challenges, and reduced efficiency in managing enterprise changes and releases.
- Strong proficiency in Service Now development (forms, workflows, business rules, client scripts, UI policies).
- Knowledge of Service Now ITSM modules:
Incident, Problem, Change, Release, Service Catalog, CMDB, Knowledge Management, Event Monitoring. - Ability to troubleshoot, analyze, and resolve Service Now platform issues.
- Strong understanding of ITIL practices.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
- ITIL 4 Foundation or Higher
- Experience with Service Now Flow Designer, Integration Hub, and custom app development.
- Knowledge of government IT projects or large-scale enterprise environments.
- Strong documentation skills (workflows, configuration, solution design).
- 3–5+ years of Service Now development experience in ITSM environments.
- Hands-on experience implementing workflows and integrations in Service Now.
- Experience participating in testing, code reviews, and deployment activities.
- Certified Service Now System Administrator.
- Prior experience with Agile Methodology.
- Prior experience supporting state or federal government IT modernization projects.
- Experience with Service Now development, upgrades and maintaining customizations.
- Experience working with cross-functional project teams, product owners, module contractors, IT leads.
- Bachelor s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or related field.
- 10+ years equivalent work experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
- Additional coursework or certifications in IT Service Management, Software Engineering or Enterprise Architecture.
- Service Now Certified System Administrator (CSA)
- Service Now Certified Implementation Specialist (CIS) – ITSM
- Service Now Certified Application Developer (CAD)
- PMI Agile Certified Practitioner (PMI-ACP)
- Service Now Certified Technical Architect (CTA)
- ITIL 4 Foundation Certified
- Professional Scrum Master (PSM)
- Candidates must be eligible to work on U.S. government contracts.
- Position is 100% onsite.
