Police Officer
Alabama State University, Department of Public Safety invites applications for the position of Police Officer. Under direct supervision, the police officer performs duties relating to the protection of University students, faculty, staff, personal and institution property through the enforcement of law and university rules.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Reports to the shift supervisor and patrols university property on foot and in motorized vehicles to preserve law and order.
- Prevents and discovers the commissions of crimes.
- Answers calls and complaints involving fire, automobile accidents, felonies and other misdemeanors.
- Administers first aid, conducts preliminary investigations, gathers information and prepares detailed accident investigation reports.
- Interviews persons with complaints and inquiries and attempts to make proper disposition or direct them to proper authorities.
- Attends regular training classes in police methods, first aid, target practice and other law enforcement related work as required.
Minimum Requirements:
Must be a high school graduate or GED approved by the State Department of Education, 21 years old, have a valid driver license with an insurable driving record, and must not have been convicted of a felony or misdemeanor involving force, violence, or moral turpitude. Must be certified by the Alabama Peace Officers Standard and Training Commission.
