Lead Control System Technician I – Montgomery, AL
Location:
Onsite in Montgomery, AL (Up to 20% Travel)
Generous Compensation: $70,000–$80,000 annually + Bonus + 401(k) Match relocation/travel assistance

We’re looking for a Lead Control System Technician I to play a key role in one of the most advanced data-center programs in the world. You’ll oversee on-site installation, startup, and commissioning of full life-cycle control systems, mentor technicians, and interface directly with clients, engineers, and vendors. This is a hands-on role ideal for someone who thrives in the field, loves problem-solving, and wants to grow into LCST II or engineering leadership.

Installation & Commissioning
- Lead and assist in project installation, startup, and commissioning.
- Conduct and document Factory Acceptance Tests (FATs).
Instrumentation & Wiring
- Perform instrument loop checks and calibrations.
- Wire and install control panels and field instruments.
Troubleshooting & Maintenance
- Diagnose and repair PLC, HMI, and network issues.
- Debug HMI/PLC programs and support field performance.
Drawings & Quality
- Read and interpret P&IDs, wiring diagrams, and schematics.
- Follow Thermo’s Quality Management System (QMS) and project standards.
Customer & Project Interface
- Serve as a professional point of contact with clients, GCs, and vendors.
- Surface issues early, propose solutions, and coordinate scope changes.
- Document all work clearly and consistently.
What You Bring
- Education:
A.A.S. in Engineering Technology, Industrial Electronics, or equivalent experience. - Experience:
2–5+ years in control-system installation/start-up, with 2+ years leading technicians. - Core
Skills:
PLC & HMI troubleshooting, low-voltage wiring, instrumentation, and basic networking. - Soft Skills:
Clear communicator, proactive problem solver, and team-oriented leader. - Certifications:
ISA, AVEVA, or Ignition (or willingness to earn). - Other:
Valid driver’s license, U.S. work authorization, and fit-for-duty certification.
- Up to 20% travel; overtime may be required based on project needs.
- Per diem and full travel coverage for business assignments.
