The Central Alabama Community Foundation is a trusted philanthropic partner working to enhance the quality of life in East Alabama, the River Region, and the Wiregrass, through impactful grantmaking, scholarship distribution, and community development initiatives. CACF supports affiliated foundations, including the Autauga Area Community Foundation (AACF), Elmore County Community Foundation (ECCF), East Alabama Community Foundation (EACF), and Southeast Alabama Community Foundation (SACF).
Position Summary:The Grants and Scholarships Manager has a pivotal role within the Foundation, overseeing the planning, implementation, and monitoring of all grantmaking and scholarship programs across CACF, AACF and ECCF. This individual ensures the Foundation’s resources are stewarded effectively to maximize community impact while maintaining donor trust and upholding the Foundation’s mission, vision, and core values.
Additionally, the Manager provides direct leadership and oversight to the scholarships team, directly supervising the Scholarships Coordinator to ensure high standards of program execution and data integrity. This position requires strong project management, supervisory, and communication skills to manage complex, multi-faceted programs, facilitate community engagement, and support the Foundation’s reputation for integrity, transparency, and impact.
Key Responsibilities:Grant and Scholarship Program Management
- Oversee the full lifecycle of grant and scholarship programs, specifically CACF, AACF & ECCF cycles, including research, proposal review, site visits, and outcome analysis.
- Coordinate with Committees and Reviewers to evaluate proposals and ensure effective stewardship of Foundation funds.
- Utilize and maintain Foundant software (knowledge of platform is a plus).
- Prepare and present reports, summaries, and materials to the Distribution Committee.
- Monitor progress of grants and scholarships to ensure compliance and successful outcomes.
- Plan and facilitate grant-related meetings, site visits, and community events.
- Supervise and mentor the Scholarships Coordinator, guiding their day‑to‑day administrative, technical, and customer service workflows.
- Conduct regular check‑ins and performance evaluations to support the professional development and effectiveness of the coordinator.
- Oversee workload distribution within the department, ensuring adequate cross‑training and coverage for both grant and scholarship cycles.
- Collaborate with the Finance Officer to evaluate fund availability for grants and scholarships.
- Ensure proper documentation and follow‑up for all disbursed funds.
- Serve as the primary liaison for nonprofit organizations, guiding them through the grantmaking process.
- Represent CACF from time to time at community events, on committees, and in collaborative initiatives.
- Promote awareness and understanding of the Foundation’s initiatives among staff and the broader community.
- Participate actively in staff meetings and internal strategy discussions.
- Perform general administrative tasks to support the efficient functioning of the Foundation.
- Bachelor’s degree in nonprofit management, public administration, or a related field (preferred).
- Demonstrated experience in grantmaking, nonprofit program administration, or community development.
- Prior supervisory or team management experience (highly preferred).
- Strong organizational and project management skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
- Experience working with boards, committees, or community groups.
- Proficiency with office technology; experience with Foundant or similar grant management software is a plus.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a dynamic environment.
This position is based in an office environment with some travel required for community meetings, site visits, and events.
