This skilled position involves repairing and maintaining road construction and mechanical equipment, such as trucks, trailers, batch plants, paving machines, bulldozers, engines, motors, pneumatic tools, conveyor systems, asphalt paving, and other equipment.

Responsibilities include:

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Operate and inspect machines or equipment to diagnose defects.
• Dismantle devices to access and remove defective parts using hoists and hand tools.
• Examine parts for imperfections in form and texture.
• Inspect used parts to determine dimensional requirements.
• Adjust functional parts of devices and control instruments.
• Install special functional and structural parts in devices.
• Lubricate and clean parts.
• Start devices to test performance.
• Weld broken parts and structural members.

• Ability to read and understand simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
• Ability to perform basic arithmetic operations (add, subtract, multiply, divide) in all units of measure, using whole numbers, fractions, and decimals.
