HVAC Mechanic II at City of Montgomery

Salary

Salary Information:
Compensation plans are based on a multi-step progression system. The pay range reflects the entry level and maximum salary potential in the assigned pay grade. A starting salary may be negotiated and will be commensurate with education, training and experience in alignment with pay administration policies and MCCP Board Rules & Regulations.

Responsibilities

The fundamental reason this position exists is to provide skilled mechanical work in installing, repairing and maintaining HVAC systems in the City of Montgomery facilities. Employees in this class are responsible for laying out work details, assigning duties, and inspecting the work of the HVAC Mechanic Is. In addition to supervising, the incumbent performs mechanical tasks. Assignments are made by written or oral instructions.

Daily supervision is received from the Mechanical Trades Supervisor. On large projects, supervision may be received on the job site by an HVAC Mechanic III.

Minimum Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Four (4) years of experience in installing, maintaining and repairing HVAC systems.
  • Must have possession of an EPA 608 Type I and II certification.
  • NOTE:

    Qualifying education, training and experience that provide the requisite knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the job will be considered.
Special Requirements
  • Must possess and maintain a valid Alabama driver's license.
  • Must be willing to work nights, weekends and holidays and be on call 24 hours as needed.
