Salary Information
Compensation plans are based on a multi‑step progression system. The pay range reflects the entry level and maximum salary potential in the assigned pay grade.
A starting salary may be negotiated and will be commensurate with education, training and experience in alignment with pay administration policies and Montgomery Personnel Board Rules & Regulations.
Nature of WorkThe primary work responsibilities of this position include coaching boys and/or girls gymnastics teams, training staff in the instruction of compulsory team programs and general gymnastics classes, overseeing team programs for competition, and performing various administrative and gymnastics‑related duties. The Gymnastics Recreation Leader II differs from the Gymnastics Recreation Leader I in that the II level is responsible for more advanced training and development of gymnastics skills and assists the Gymnastics Supervisor with facility operations, whereas the I level focuses on beginning and intermediate skills.
Incumbents work as a team with other recreation leaders and special pay instructors, all supervised by the Gymnastics Supervisor.
High school diploma or G.E.D. and two (2) years of experience teaching and/or coaching competitive gymnastics for regional and/or national qualifiers. (Qualifying education, training, and experience that provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the job will be considered.)
Special RequirementsMust possess a valid Alabama driver’s license as needed to travel to meets. Must be available to attend all program‑related competitions and performances, which may include after‑hours and weekends. Must be able to work irregular hours and on weekends.
Must be registered with USAG (USA Gymnastics) and receive and maintain Safety Certification within the probationary period.
Physical AbilitiesAbility to sit or stand for extended periods, hand‑eye coordination, spotting and lifting athletes of various ages and sizes, and physical manipulation of skills for recreation training, instruction, and coaching.
