Stores Clerk

The fundamental reason this classification exists is to assist in the maintenance of inventory of various stored materials. The primary work responsibilities include receiving items for inventory, maintaining the items in storage, issuing and releasing items, and performing other related duties. The supervisors of these employees vary according to their assigned location.

High school diploma or GED and six (6) months of experience in warehouse operations such as receiving, issuing, and storing materials.

NOTE: Qualifying education, training and experience that provide the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the job will be considered. Must have or obtain a valid and current Alabama driver's license in order to drive vehicles for the delivery or pick-up of items.

Incumbents kneel, crouch, twist, climb ladders and stairs, reach, bend, push, pull, drag, grasp and lift items in the storage facility. Some positions may require incumbents to lift up to 80 pounds unassisted.
