Unit Coordinator & Monitor Tech – Telemetry Unit

The 4200 Telemetry Unit is a specialized, stroke‑certified unit at Tri Health Bethesda North Hospital, offering expert care for patients with a wide range of cardiovascular conditions. This 38‑bed unit provides comprehensive treatment for individuals requiring pre/post cardiac catheterization, management of NSTEMI, heart failure, arrhythmias, and those undergoing structural heart procedures such as TAVR, WATCHMAN, and Mitra Clip. Our dedicated team of healthcare professionals is skilled in electrophysiology, caring for patients who need pacemakers, ablations, and defibrillator procedures.
The Telemetry Unit focuses on acute structural heart conditions and is closely integrated with our ICUs, providing a critical‑care pathway.
This position performs clerical duties as well as monitoring responsibilities, including observing and interpreting central cardiac monitors. The role requires effective communication with patients, families, and staff, and assists in coordinating patient flow.
Job Requirements- High School Degree or GED
- Successful completion of a basic cardiology course, including 40 hours of clinical orientation
- Equivalent experience accepted in lieu of degree
- Maintain proficient knowledge of computer applications specific to the unit, including census management and document scanning.
- Communicate appropriately and effectively with internal and external customers (staff, patients, families, other departments).
- Respond to and prioritize work, including medication removal from tube systems, emergency situations (Code Blue, Rapid Response, fire, alert), and unit downtime procedures.
- Keep confidentiality and maintain patient satisfaction (way‑finding, quick response to call lights).
- Accurately observe and interpret central cardiac monitors, maintain monitor logs, recognize emergency rhythms, and notify RN and nursing personnel in the accepted timeframe.
- Maintain alarms at all times and review alarms immediately.
- Document changes per unit standard and report equipment issues to nursing personnel or clinical engineering.
- Maintain equipment, logs, and telemetry supplies per unit protocol.
