Job Overview
Provides assistance and/or performs basic activities of daily living and specified treatments and procedures under the direct supervision of the nurse. May perform non-direct patient care activities as assigned, requested, or directed including but not limited to stocking and clerical activities. $2.5k Sign On Bonus
FTE: Full Time (.9 FTE; 36 hrs/week)

The 6300 Medical-Surgical Unit at Tri Health Bethesda North Hospital is a 41‑bed unit specializing in the care of orthopedic, neurosurgery, and trauma patients. The unit serves patients recovering from total joint replacements, hip fractures, and spinal surgery, offering a fast‑paced environment that supports role transition students, nursing students, and new graduates. Staff refine skills in pre‑ and post‑operative care, pain management, patient mobility, and neurovascular assessments while managing orthopedic-specific interventions such as splints, Buck’s traction, skeletal traction, and DME.
The unit partners with professional associations (ANCC, ANA, AONA, AMSN) and supports certifications including MED‑SURG, GERO‑BC, ONC, Pain Certification, and CNRN.
- 2 years of high school education
- Age 17 with work permit
- Basic Life Support (BLS)
- Reading and math ability appropriate to the position
Performs and documents basic patient care tasks under RN supervision, maintaining competency in trained tasks and completing them within required time frames. Seeks clarification when uncertain. Maintains a safe environment, reports hazards, and completes safety event reports as needed, complying with infection control policies. Demonstrates effective communication with patients, families, and coworkers, providing timely patient information and reporting problems. Works collaboratively with the healthcare team and follows the chain of command.
Performs supply, equipment, and environmental tasks, reporting issues promptly and ensuring equipment availability. Identifies areas for self‑growth, maintains knowledge of organizational and unit changes, and supports changes.
