Registered Nurse RN - Urology - Bethesda North Hospital

Position offers option for Full time or Part time roles. Day shift or Night shift roles. Sign on Bonus for Full time is $5,000 and Part time is $2,500.

Overview

The 6200 Medical-Surgical Unit at Tri Health Bethesda North Hospital is a dynamic 38-bed unit specializing in urology care. The unit also treats a wide range of medical patients with complex needs, including diabetes management. The team focuses on skill development, time management, and the care of diverse patient populations, supported by professional growth opportunities and affiliations with national nursing organizations.

Certification opportunities such as MED-SURG, GERO-BC, and CMSRN enhance professional development.

Job Overview

This position applies the nursing process in providing direct and indirect holistic care to patients and their families. The nurse collaborates with physicians and other health care team members, and may delegate certain aspects of care within the scope of nursing practice.

Job Requirements
  • Associate's Degree or Diploma in Nursing
  • New hires required to obtain BSN within 5 years of hire
  • BLS/CPR (Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers)
  • Registered Nurse
  • Knowledge, judgment, and skills from biological, physical, behavioral, social, and nursing sciences to meet complex health care needs
Preferred
  • Membership in related professional organizations
  • RN experience preferred but not required
Job Responsibilities
  • Performs initial and ongoing assessment of patient and family; documents findings per unit/Tri Health guidelines; communicates assessment findings to relevant providers.
  • Plans and updates the plan of care based on assessment, standards of care, and patient outcomes; participates in discharge planning and collaborates with the health care team.
  • Provides a safe, therapeutic environment, respects patient autonomy and diversity, and responds to emergencies as needed.
  • Executes and supervises delegated care; ensures documentation is completed within scheduled time frames.
  • Trains/educates other staff and serves as a resource in the specialty area with current knowledge and skills.
  • Evaluates outcomes of care; documents patient/family response and revises the plan as needed in collaboration with the care team.
  • Administers medications and treatments safely and uses equipment appropriately.
  • Demonstrates professionalism and willingness to participate in organizational growth and continuous learning.
