Position Details
University of Arkansas at Monticello – one of twenty campuses of the University of Arkansas System, located in southeastern Arkansas approximately 100 miles south of Little Rock. UAM is a comprehensive, residential and commuter, undergraduate institution also offering selected master’s degree programs.

Summary ofJob Duties
Primary duties consist of teaching twelve credit hours per semester at the undergraduate level, including Principles of Managerial Accounting and selected upper‑level major courses such as Cost Accounting, Auditing, Governmental/Nonprofit, and Accounting Information Systems. The position may include courses in other business areas on occasion. Principles courses are offered every semester, other courses are scheduled once a year or on a two‑year cycle.
Other responsibilities include advising/mentoring students, serving on departmental and university committees, and participating in course and program assessment. Expectations for promotion and tenure include research/scholarly activities appropriate to a teaching‑centered School of Business and professional engagement with the business community. Collegiality, professionalism, effective communication skills, and a strong commitment to teaching excellence are necessary. As a member of the business faculty the successful candidate will be an integral part of the School and have the opportunity to shape the accounting and business programs.
QualificationsA Ph.D. or D.B.A. is strongly preferred. Applicants with a Master’s degree in Business Administration or Accounting will be considered at the instructor level. Experience teaching at the collegiate level and/or professional experience are preferred. CPA licensure or eligibility for licensure with an intent to complete the requirements is preferred for candidates with a Master’s degree. Preference will be given to candidates with previous higher education teaching experience, both online and in‑person, and industry experience.
