Job Summary
WEST ABE is a consortium of educational sites within school districts and four county jails to help adults acquire basic skills. Monticello is the fiscal agent. This position involves providing direct instruction to adults in ABE/GED program at Howard Lake Community Education evenings from 6:00- 8:30 p.m., plus a 1/2-hour prep; which evening and hours may be able to be changed.
Up to 40 paid professional development hours are available annually.

Responsibilities
Responsibilities will include providing direct instruction to adult students who are working to improve their basic reading, math, digital skills, and/or preparing students for the official GED exam. Position also includes student assessment, returning student phone calls, monitoring student attendance, completing necessary student record keeping, and other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Valid MN teaching license. Strong communication and organizational skills. Ability to be flexible and function well in a busy environment. Ability to work as a team member. Computer experience and comfort with Internet, email, and Google apps preferred. Must be physically working in the building/onsite.
Starting Hourly Wage
$28.31 per hour

Certification And Experience
- Current MN Teaching License required
- Previous experience teaching within an adult basic education program, experience providing online instruction, and working with diverse populations, preferred.
Essential
Skills Required:
- Computer skills required, knowledge of MS Office/Google or comparable
- Strong leadership and time management skills required
- Effective decision making skills while acting within the district policies, procedures and guidelines
- Ability to communicate effectively with students and staff
- Maintain confidentiality of information about students, families and staff
- Experience working with diverse students and families
