Location: Wayne County Hospital PT and Monticello Physical Therapy (MMA)

Summary
:
Responsible for administering physical therapy treatment as supervised by the staff Physical Therapist. Administers treatments and physical agents as directed by the staff Physical Therapist, after the Physical Therapist has evaluated the patient. The Physical Therapy Assistant assists with restoration of patient functioning to prevent disability following injury, disease, or physical impairment. Assists patients to reach their maximum performance and optimal level of functioning.

The Physical Therapy Assistant participates in operational aspects of the department and maintains performance improvement activities within the department. The Physical Therapy Assistant will float between Wayne County Hospital PT and Monticello PT locations.

Other responsibilities may include

  • Counseling patients and families
  • Observing patients before, during and after therapy and reporting status to the Physical Therapist
  • Creating exercise programs for the patient and facilitating completion
  • Using devices and durable medical equipment during treatment.

Qualifications
:

  • AA degree from a school or college approved by the American Physical Therapy Association
  • Holds current certificate/licensure as Physical Therapy Assistant
  • Current BCLS certification
  • Able to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing
  • Strong written and verbal skills
  • Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of the position without compromising patient care
  • Experience:

    Minimum of 1-3 years of PTA experience preferred; experience with inpatient rehabilitation preferred
