Duties are performed in a standard office setting. Workload pressure may vary over time. Incumbents must be able to concentrate on details and perform accurate work in the face of frequent interruptions. Human relations skills may be needed to deal with the general public. Stressful situations and strong differences of opinion with taxpayers or their representatives may occur. Some travel for work may be required.

Pressure from work deadlines is predictable.

• Licensure as a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) AND two (2) years or more of professional level experience in tax examination, accounting, auditing or business administration.
• Bachelor's degree or higher AND one (1) year or more of professional level experience in tax examination, accounting, auditing or business administration.
• Associate's degree with courses in accounting, finance, business administration, taxation AND three (3) years or more of professional level experience in tax examination, accounting, auditing or business administration.
• Two (2) years or more of experience as a Tax Examiner III.
