About the Team:The team is responsible for product compliance at UKG by monitoring, analyzing, and partnering with product development teams to provide functionality that meets ever evolving regulatory requirements.
About the Role:The Product Pay & Tax Compliance Analyst acts as a UKG liaison to Federal, State, Provincial and Local tax agencies of increasing complexity to ensure all new changes, mandates, and requirements from the payroll tax agencies are met.
This position provides compliance support across the organization; therefore, it is required to have above average knowledge of UKG's tax system and have exceptional knowledge of the assigned tax jurisdictions.
Responsibilities:Use general payroll tax knowledge for payroll tax updates and regulations within your assigned jurisdictions/zones
Establish and maintain strong relationships with decision makers at tax agencies
Actively participate in industry-related meetings and subcommittees on behalf of the organization
Conduct comprehensive research with a minimal level of guidance and maintain knowledge of payroll tax agency compliance requirements
Stay on top of the latest changes:
Track daily updates on compliance mandates and identify any adjustments needed for withholding forms (W-4, TD1) year-end slips (W-2, T4, etc) reporting, tax calculations, requirements, and/or garnishment/wage attachment regulationsEffectively communicate moderately complex compliance requirements to both internal and external stakeholders, answering questions and providing timely and accurate information
Document payroll tax agency requirements clearly and concisely to be used as a reference across UKG
Analyze and summarize identified changes, creating comprehensive documentation for our product and development teams to incorporate into UKG's payroll and tax products
Collaborate with internal teams within UKG to provide direction based on expertise in UKG processes that ensure business practices compliant with agency requirements
Negotiate outcomes with tax agencies that align with UKG's ideal state
Respond promptly to JIRA, escalations, and research requests/tickets from internal teams regarding payroll tax requirements.
Basic Qualifications:
3+ years of experience in tax compliance, payroll tax, tax research, or a related field.
Experience researching, interpreting, and/or applying federal, state, provincial, or local tax regulations and requirements.
Experience monitoring tax regulatory or legislative changes and assessing their impact on business processes, systems, or products.
Experience documenting and communicating tax requirements to internal or external stakeholders.
Professional experience working with tax-related processes, systems, or software.
Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field
Master Tax experience
CPP/PCP certification
Strong analytical and research skills
Excellent written and verbal communication
Ability to prioritize, manage deadlines, and work independently
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and research databases
