About the Role:

Are you an experienced accounting technician who enjoys being hands-on while also guiding a team? Are you comfortable with the full accounting cycle while supporting budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis?

We are looking for an Accounting Business Partner who will act as a key operational and organizational pillar within the finance team. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in day-to-day accounting work, enjoys structure and process improvement, and is ready to take on a leadership role while supporting management with insights and analysis.

You will play a critical role in ensuring accurate financial records, strong internal controls, and well-organized workflows for our BESTSELLER retail operations in Canada or/ and the United States
.

WHAT YOU’LL DO:

As an Accounting Business Partner, you will be responsible for the full accounting cycle while acting as a team reference and business partner.

Accounting & Operations

  • Actively participate in the entire annual accounting cycle, from daily transactions to year-end close.
  • Manage the full accounts payable cycle, including invoice processing, purchase order matching, approvals, and payment scheduling.
  • Prepare and post journal entries and maintain the general ledger in accordance with company policies.
  • Perform daily bank reconciliations and investigate discrepancies.
  • Participate actively in monthly and annual closings, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
  • Prepare and maintain complete and well-organized documentation to support internal and external audits.
  • Ensure compliance with internal controls, approval workflows, and expense policies.
  • Perform rent and tax reconciliations, ensure timely payments, and record all related transactions accurately in the books.
  • Budget, Forecast & Analysis Support

  • Support the Accounting & Performance Manager with budget preparation, forecasting, and follow-up
    .
  • Perform monthly financial analysis on key P&L, G/L, balance sheet, and cash flow items.
  • Identify variances, trends, and risks, and proactively suggest improvements.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of reporting tools, templates, and processes.
  • Leadership & Organization

  • Act as a team lead and technical reference
    , supporting, guiding, and structuring the work of the accounting team.
  • Help organize workloads, prioritize tasks, and improve efficiency within the team.
  • Collaborate closely with internal stakeholders and vendors to resolve issues and maintain strong working relationships.
  • Tools & Systems

  • Use accounting systems and Excel extensively for reconciliations, reporting, and analysis.
  • Participate in process optimization and system improvements when needed
  • WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR:

  • AEC, DEC, or DEP in accounting/finance or equivalent.
  • Strong experience across the full accounting cycle
  • Experience with accounting or regulatory requirements is an asset
  • Comfortable working with accounting systems and large volumes of transactions.
  • In-depth knowledge of Excel (proficiency in VLookUp, Xlook Up, and pivot tables).
  • Excellent organizational and prioritization skills, allowing for effective management of multiple tasks simultaneously, meeting deadlines, and maintaining a high level of accuracy.
  • Possess a good sense of urgency, able to identify issues and act quickly.
  • Demonstrates great attention to detail, ensuring accuracy and quality of work performed, and minimizing errors.
  • Given the support role in the United States and Canada, proficiency in both French and English is essential to ensure effective communication with clients and internal teams.
