As part of our continued growth, we are looking for an Accountant to join our Montreal office and support our Finance team in maintaining accurate financial operations and providing high-quality accounting support across the organization.
About the RoleWe are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Accountant to join our Finance team in Montreal.
Reporting to the Finance leadership team, this role will support daily accounting operations, financial reporting, reconciliations, month-end closing activities, and compliance requirements.
The ideal candidate is organized, analytical, proactive, and comfortable working in a fast-paced professional services environment. This position will collaborate with internal teams across Canada and contribute to the continuous improvement of Leyton’s financial processes.
Key Responsibilities- Manage daily accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, billing, and financial transactions
- Perform bank, credit card, and balance sheet reconciliations to ensure accuracy of financial records
- Support month-end and year-end closing activities, including journal entries, accruals, and account analysis
- Prepare financial reports, accounting schedules, and supporting documentation
- Process vendor invoices, employee expenses, payments, and account coding
- Monitor accounts receivable balances and support collection activities
- Assist with payroll-related accounting activities and reconciliations
- Support GST/QST filings, tax compliance activities, and regulatory reporting requirements
- Maintain accurate accounting records in accordance with company policies and accounting standards
- Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, reporting accuracy, and operational efficiency
- Collaborate with internal teams to resolve accounting discrepancies and support business needs
- Assist with audit preparation and documentation requests
- Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- 2–5 years of accounting experience, preferably within a professional services, consulting, or corporate environment
- Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting processes
- Experience with accounting software and ERP systems (Microsoft Dynamics, Net Suite, Sage, or similar platforms is an asset)
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial reporting tools
- Excellent attention to detail, organization, and analytical skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a dynamic environment
- Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams
- French and English bilingualism preferred
- CPA designation or progress toward CPA is an asset
