We are looking for a Senior Advisor, Commercial Controllership to help the Montreal-based Commercial Controllership team deliver accurate and consistent financial reporting for Kennecott and Copper third‑party trading activities.

Reporting to the Manager, Commercial Controllership, you will contribute to financial and management reporting, technical accounting, governance, audit support and process improvement. You will act as a key connection point across Commercial, Product Group Controllership, Finance Business Partners and Group Services.

• Coordinate monthly, quarterly and annual reporting for the role’s scope, including analysis, commentary and follow-up of material movements and issues.
• Partner with Commercial and Product Group Controllership teams on sales and marketing reporting, accounting matters, financial controls and Kennecott reporting deliverables.
• Manage end-to-end controllership requirements for Copper third‑party trading activities, including reporting, accounting assessment, governance and issue resolution.
• Assess commercial arrangements and transactions, prepare clear accounting analyses and briefing papers, and seek specialist input where required.
• Apply effective financial reporting controls and support compliance with International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS), Rio Tinto accounting policies, internal controls and Sarbanes‑Oxley (SOx) requirements.
• Coordinate information and responses for internal and external audits and support relevant statutory and regulatory reporting activities.
• Build trusted working relationships across Commercial, Product Group Controllership, Finance Business Partners, Group Services and other Finance teams.
• Identify and implement opportunities to standardise, simplify, automate and strengthen Commercial Controllership processes and reporting, while sharing knowledge and supporting team priorities.
