Duties and Responsibilities Overview
Reporting to the Manager of Procurement, this position is essential to the purchasing function of NLSchools system, which includes 255 schools, bus depots and 4 regional offices across the Province.
Duties include:
reviewing and approving purchasing requests from schools and NLSchools personnel to ensure compliance with Public Procurement Act, as well as its policies and regulations; verifying budget availability; approving, issuing, revising and cancelling purchase orders; maintaining commodity lists; communicating with vendors regarding delivery of goods or services (i.e. back orders, discrepancies in quantities, pricing, delivery, etc); providing support to office and school staff regarding NLSchools' purchasing guidelines, processes and systems;
and other duties as required.
Qualifications
Candidates must possess a knowledge of the principles of Procurement/Purchasing; strong oral and written communication skills; organizational abilities; as well as the ability to work effectively as a team member in a fast pace environment. Knowledge of word processing, Excel, and filing systems and experience working within a computerized accounting environment are also required.
Applicants must have completed a two-year Diploma in Business Administration or Business Management, combined with a minimum of two (2) years relevant work experience in purchasing. Equivalencies may be considered.
