ICI RDI is seeking two (2) researchers/reporters to work in the Montreal newsroom.

One researcher will be assigned to the 24
• 60 newsmagazine, while the other will be assigned based on operational requirements.

Your role

In this role, you will research, pitch and prepare content and interviews in line with the program mandate and CBC/Radio-Canada’s Journalistic Standards and Practices.

These are both full-time, permanent positions. Please note that working hours are subject to change based on operational requirements.

Key tasks:

  • Suggest story ideas/angles and potential guests.

  • Research, assess and vet information on stories being covered for the program host and/or program contributors; select and edit visual clips as required.

  • Find and choose interviewees; suggest and write interview questions and scripts; prepare research packs (press digests, pre-interview/interview question lines).

  • Handle interview logistics (guests’ arrival time, fees, parking, makeup, etc.).

  • Plan for future shows and update the upcoming-event calendar.

  • Interest in and knack for digital media an asset.

  • Carry out all other related tasks as needed.

  • Job Requirements:

    Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent

  • Two (2) years’ journalism experience or equivalent

  • Skills:

  • Excellent knowledge of regional, national and international current events, obtained from various sources

  • Solid knowledge of Quebec and federal politics

  • Extensive general knowledge

  • Very good knowledge of research tools and techniques

  • Ability to find good contacts

  • Ability to maintain effective working relationships with all parties and contributors involved in the show’s production

  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively and work well in a team

  • Ability to work quickly and under pressure

  • Strong understanding of CBC/Radio-Canada’s Journalistic Standards and Practices

  • Excellent command of spoken and written French

  • Proficiency in English is an asset

  • Availability to work irregular hours
