Position: ESL Instructor: Albert St. EC: 12:30pm-3:30pm, Mon-Fri: TERM
ESL Instructor
Overview
Under the direction of the Continuing Education Officer, provides instruction to adult learners.

Role and Responsibilities

Provide English as a Second Language (ESL) instruction to adult learners, including newcomers to Canada, government assisted refugees, asylum seekers, and other individuals whose first language is not English

Accommodate adult learners who may have learning and other disabilities

Conduct classes located within OCDSB elementary, high school sites, and administrative buildings

Qualifications

TESL Ontario Certification

Knowledge of relevant Board policies and procedures, adult education, Canadian Language Benchmarks, and Board procedures and operations

Strong organization and time management skills to prioritize work and juggle multiple tasks with short timelines

Interpersonal, communication, oral communication, and listening skills for effective collaboration with diverse communities

Diplomatic and tactful communication when addressing inquiries from colleagues and students

Presents instruction effectively in a classroom environment, fostering respect, trust, and cooperation

Maintain all relevant certifications

Must have completed TESL Ontario Certification from a recognized institution, or hold an Ontario Teaching Certification with recognized ESL qualifications (CTESL; ESL Part(s) I and II), or have teaching and ESL instructional experience

Pay Expectations
$37.04 to $46.84 per hour
