French Library Services Coordinator

The City of Côte Saint-Luc Public Library is seeking a French Library Services Coordinator to help develop and enhance its French-language services and programs.
Reporting to the Manager of Digital Learning and Resource Discovery, the incumbent plays a key role in the development, coordination, and promotion of services for the Francophone community. The successful candidate will build and maintain relationships with residents and Francophone organizations while ensuring the delivery of high-quality library services, including collection development, reference services, readers’ advisory, cultural programming, and community outreach.
WorkSchedule
- Tuesday to Saturday, 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
- Flexible hours; however, a minimum of two days per week on the 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. schedule is required.
- Required to work Saturdays, evenings, and holidays as operational needs require.
- Select, acquire, and maintain a diverse collection of French-language materials in all formats (print, digital, and audiovisual).
- Regularly evaluate collections and ensure their relevance based on community needs and usage trends.
- Administer the budget for French-language collections.
- Monitor trends in Francophone publishing, authors, and literary awards.
- Collaborate with specialized vendors and library staff to promote and integrate French-language resources throughout the library system.
- Review and assess patron purchase suggestions.
- Perform cataloguing and classification of French-language materials as required.
- Provide reference and information services in both French and English, in person, by telephone, and online.
- Assist patrons in using both print and digital collections.
- Provide information on government, community, and cultural resources available in both official languages.
- Support newcomers by providing information and referrals to local services.
- Offer basic technology assistance related to the catalogue, devices, and digital platforms.
- Develop and maintain research guides, FAQs, and instructional materials in French.
- Provide personalized reading recommendations to Francophone patrons.
- Develop reading lists, themed guides, and displays highlighting Francophone literature.
- Promote Francophone authors, literature, and cultural perspectives.
- Support readers of all language proficiency levels, including French learners and bilingual patrons.
- Participate in initiatives that encourage the discovery of French-language literature.
- Plan, coordinate, and facilitate activities for the Francophone community, including:
- Book clubs;
- Technology workshops;
- Lectures and presentations;
- Author talks;
- Cultural events.
- Collaborate with the programming team to incorporate French-language content into the library’s overall programming.
- Evaluate program success and adapt offerings based on community needs and feedback.
- Participate in the development of bilingual programs and initiatives that support French-language learning.
- Create and publish French-language content for the library’s social media platforms.
- Promote collections, programs, authors, and resources available in French.
- Work closely with the Communications and Marketing teams to ensure consistent and engaging messaging.
- Produce reports on audience reach and engagement.
- Create multimedia content to support promotional campaigns.
- Develop and maintain relationships with local Francophone organizations and community groups.
- Identify emerging needs within the Francophone community.
- Implement initiatives that improve access to library services and resources.
- Develop promotional materials and outreach campaigns tailored to Francophone audiences.
- Gather community feedback to inform service, collection, and program development.
