The Family Resource Worker coordinates and delivers programs and services that support the needs of parents / care providers and children birth to 6 years in the communities of Kanata, West Carleton and Stittsville.
The position supports the Centre-wide and strategic level health promotion and community development activities, including community assessments and program evaluation activities.
This a full-time permanent position at 35 hours a week with an annual salary range of $49,313 to $51,306. This is a Monday - Friday rotation schedule with two evenings per week.
PRINCIPAL
RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
Program Development and Delivery
Develop playgroups and activities for children
Promoting child development and encouraging parent/ care provider-child interaction;
Using the recreational resources available in the community;
Managing and coordinating the planning of the playgroups and activities;
Using modeling for the parent/ care provider in the relation with the child;
Ensuring the parent/care provider understands the reason and the impact of the activities;
Presenting activities in a dynamic and stimulating fashion for the child, in collaboration with the parent/care provider;
Ensuring integration and adaptation of children and parent/care providers.
Assist parent/care providers to increase their awareness of child development
Providing information and referral to parent/care providers;
Providing education services for parent/care providers through workshops and other training opportunities;
Supporting parent/care providers in identifying their needs;
Assisting parent/care providers to identify their strengths and limitations to help improve their child’s and their own quality of life;
Linking and referring care providers to other programs offered by the CRC and other community organizations.
Coordinating and delivering early learning programs and services throughout our communities, including rural, in local schools and in the EYC;
Planning programs that will stimulate interest and curiosity through collaboration with parent/care providers, placement students and volunteers;
Providing support and training to volunteers as required;
Creating a sense of program ownership and engagement with parent/care providers as well as with partnering organizations
Developing, coordinating and delivering programs and services that are aligned with community needs, trends and gaps based on client feedback and data such as EDI and Census data as well as in consultation with partnering organizations;
Performing program evaluation in collaboration with participants, volunteers and partners;
Maintaining and developing professional competence and quality assurance through appropriate continuing education methods; to support both family resource worker and community development role and responsibilities;
Reporting data using the CRC data base (CIMS) to support funder reporting requirements;
Providing information for the web-site.
Outreach, Connecting and Participating in the Community
Serve as ambassador to ensure that services are accessible, and the general public is informed regarding EYC services
Promoting participation of parent/care providers, and the community, in activities designated to educate and/or advocate for healthy child development;
Work in collaboration with the Communications department to develop promotional and marketing strategies to increase awareness of our programs and services
Participating in community groups regarding issues and services relevant to the 0– 6 population;
Contributing to the creation and distribution of materials and resources related to the activities of the EYC;
