Teaching Qualification Requirements (TQRs):Education:
- 1. Master educator with a minimum completed master’s degree in a relevant field. PhD preferred.
- 2. Strong grounding in citizenship education, social studies education theory, curriculum, and pedagogical approaches relevant to the Quebec secondary education context.
- 1. School-based teaching experience in secondary social studies disciplines, including geography, preferably in Quebec.
- 2. Experience supporting teacher candidates in teacher education and/or social science methods course contexts.
- 3. Demonstrated knowledge of:
- The Québec Education Program (QEP), including competencies and curriculum expectations relevant to secondary social studies disciplines, including geography and related programs.
- Educational theories and current research relevant to social studies education.
- Advanced pedagogical approaches for teaching social studies, including inquiry, interpretation, critical analysis, and disciplinary thinking.
- The nature, content, and methodology of teaching social studies subjects in secondary school contexts, including a focus on geography in the secondary curriculum.
- Planning, instructional, and assessment practices relevant to secondary social studies teaching.
- Equity-oriented, inclusive, and critically informed approaches in social studies education.
- Integration of digital technologies in social studies teaching and learning.
- Professional competency frameworks and professional repository documentation relevant to teacher education.
- 4.Previous experience teaching these themes within other university-level courses may be considered equivalent to having taught the specific course.
- 1. Knowledge of the impact and experience integrating pedagogical approaches anchored to equity, diversity and inclusion
- 2. Familiarity using my Courses, Zoom and/or other similar online platforms to facilitate quality teaching and learning experiences
- 3. Familiarity with the application of a variety of digital teaching and learning tools
- 4. Familiarity teaching blended classes
- 5. Instruction in this course may be delivered remotely if indicated as required by the university.
