POSITION SUMMARY

The role of HSE Construction Site Officer directly supports the company’s mission to develop and deliver clean power plants that make 100% renewable energy a reality for the world. As the HSE Construction Site Officer, you will be responsible for monitoring and controlling all HSE matters related to project team members and contractors, ensuring that the project complies with specifications, safety codes, and other policies/guidelines.

You will assess risk and design strategies to reduce potential hazards within an assigned wind farm, and oversee HSE during project execution on sites including personnel such as project managers, site managers, commissioning and erection staff, service technicians, engineers, crane contractors, subcontractors for erection work, and civil construction work.

WHAT YOU’LL DO
  • Maintain global alignment for HSE Management Systems and daily HSE activities.
  • Support cross‑functional teams in the planning, facilitation, and completion of HSE projects.
  • Work with functional leaders to review analytical data of HSE related incidents.
  • Interface with clients and customers as needed in a manner that reflects positively on the company.
  • Support HSE Director and Officers with direction to assure that a system is in place to monitor compliance with applicable federal, state, local regulations during the Project Management phase of operations.
  • Interpret and implement the Global HSE requirements.
  • Work in conjunction with HSE team(s) to implement policies and procedures at the site level.
  • Create records and reports for functional management areas indicating results and conclusions with appropriate recommendations for organizational implementation.
  • Provide functional guidance to assist with process controls using Root Cause Analysis (RCA/8D) methods and proactive analytical problem solving for project management activities.
  • Liaise with Supply/Engineering/Project Management/Regional HSE team regarding daily issues.
WHAT YOU HAVE
  • AA or AS degree, or equivalent experience in a related discipline.
  • 1‑5 years of HSE experience preferred, including at least 1‑3 years in dedicated training or teaching capacity.
  • Maintain current certificates and professional development requirements to enable the role of instructor.
  • Fluency in English and French mandatory;
    Spanish and/or German a plus.
  • Ability to work cooperatively with others to obtain information, assess needs, and effectively transfer knowledge.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, Visio, and database usage required.
  • Familiarity with video production and editing.
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally to project sites and business as required, with a passport to work in Canada/USA and other international locations; travel 75% of the time.
  • Must be able to work in Canada with no company sponsorship now or in the future.
  • Ability to successfully complete all Canadian regulatory laws surrounding pre‑employment screening requirements.
  • Ability to move and manipulate up to 23 kg (50 lbs), climb vertical ladders, and work at heights above 100 m (300 ft); meet specific weight limits of 120 kg (265 lbs) max to utilize climbing equipment.
  • Must be able to pass a pre‑employment physical administered by a medical examiner to ensure the ability to safely perform job functions and meet the physical demands of the position.
  • Driving is an essential function of the job; must possess a full valid driver’s license and be insurable under our auto insurance policy. The position will be subject to periodic driver’s abstract checks to confirm continued insurability.
