Health And Safety Advisor
Job Description & How to Apply Below
At Adapt Safety Solutions, we do things differently.
We're a growing health and safety consulting company that combines practical consulting with technology to make health and safety easier for our clients. We work with companies across construction, mining, industrial and manufacturing sectors, providing everything from on-site support to our safety management software.
We're looking for someone who wants to grow with us—not just fill a position.
This position is based out of our Ottawa office (located off March Road) and is primarily office-based, with potential travel to client sites throughout Ontario.
WHO WE'RE LOOKING FOR We're looking for someone who is motivated, curious and genuinely enjoys helping people.
You don't need to have every certification or the perfect resume. If you've worked in construction, mining or another industrial environment and you're eager to learn, we'd love to hear from you.
The right person is someone who:
Takes initiative and ownership of their work
Is naturally organized
Loves solving problems
Has a positive attitude
Communicates well with everyone—from workers to executives
Enjoys learning new things
Is coachable and open to feedback
Is comfortable working independently
Likes being part of a small team where everyone pitches in
Follows through and gets things done
TECHNOLOGY MATTERS HERE Technology is one of the things that sets us apart. It's at the core of how we support our clients and how we continue to improve the way health and safety is delivered. We're looking for someone who is extremely comfortable with technology—not just someone who can use Microsoft Word.
You’ll probably be a great fit if you’re the type of person who:
Figures out new software without needing a manual
Builds your own Excel spreadsheets because it’s easier
Learns new technology on your own
Enjoys finding better ways to do things
Is the person everyone calls when they need help with technology
Has exceptional Microsoft 365 skills
Is very comfortable using Outlook, Excel, Word and Power Point
Enjoys learning new software as technology evolves
WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING No two days are the same. One day you might be building a health and safety program, the next you could be delivering training, visiting a client site, or helping solve a challenging compliance issue.
Your responsibilities will include:
Developing health and safety programs, procedures and forms
Delivering software demonstrations and onboarding new clients
Conducting workplace inspections and audits
Assisting with incident investigations
Delivering orientations and training
Helping clients meet legislative and COR requirements
Coaching clients, supervisors and workers
Supporting clients with our health and safety software
Building reports and documentation
Researching legislative requirements and industry best practices
Identifying opportunities to better support existing clients
WHAT WE'D LIKE TO SEE We're ideally looking for someone with around five years of health and safety experience. That said, if you have strong industry experience, exceptional technical skills, the right attitude, and can demonstrate your ability to learn quickly, we'd still encourage you to apply.
The following would be considered strong assets:
NCSO designation through IHSA (or an equivalent organization)
Strong understanding of Ontario occupational health and safety legislation
Knowledge of Quebec health and safety legislation
Experience in construction, mining or industrial environments
We're far more interested in your attitude, work ethic and ability to learn than whether you have a particular diploma or degree.
HOW WE’LL SUPPORT YOU We want you to succeed, and we’re committed to helping you grow both personally and professionally. Here’s what you can expect from us:
Regular check‑ins during your first year. We’ll meet after 3, 6, 9 and 12 months, then annually after that, to talk about how you’re enjoying the role, what’s working well, where you’d like to grow, and how we can better support your success.
Professional development opportunities. We’ll support training and learning that helps you develop your skills…
