The candidate will work in the Mechanical Systems group for the military CF-18 and CT114 Programs, leading mechanical systems and structures modification design, test, and certification to ensure continued airworthiness of the CF-18 fleet.
- Address maintenance snags and analyze them relative to design data, in‑service experience, and system safety.
- Provide technical support and engineering disposition to restore structural integrity and system performance of damaged structures/systems per military, civil, or corporate standards.
- Develop and review mechanical system modifications, installation work instructions, procedures, and recommendations.
- Identify discrepancies in drawings before release and implement corrective actions.
- Validate subsystem/equipment performance to specification via test.
- Participate in integration tests and develop test scripts.
- Coordinate cross‑functional requirements communication and optimization.
- Obtain regulatory approval for modifications/repairs on aircraft mechanical systems/components.
- Evaluate reliability impact of design changes per ARP
4761 and/or MIL‑STD‑882E. - Conduct root‑cause analysis to identify corrective actions for system safety and airworthiness degradations.
- Facilitate continuous improvement by recommending and implementing reliability plans.
- Develop action plans to respond quickly to unanticipated events and anticipate potential problems.
- Monitor and communicate project status and significant developments.
- Prepare and review technical reports.
- Ensure all work meets quality requirements and improve daily processes.
- Act as a mentor for junior level engineers.
- Bachelor's or Master’s degree in mechanical engineering, aeronautics, or equivalent.
- Minimum 10 years of experience in Aviation Mechanical Systems Engineering or equivalent.
- Superior knowledge of aircraft systems such as Fuel, Hydraulic, Ventilation, Equipment Cooling, Fire/Smoke detection, Oxygen, Bleed Air.
- Strong technical writing skills in English.
- Experience with MS Office; knowledge of RELEX/Windchill, Cameo No Magic is an asset.
- CAD experience, preferably CATIA.
- Knowledge of ISO/IEC 15288:2008 is a major asset.
- Knowledge of MBSE SysML is a major asset.
- Strong communication skills.
- Must be eligible for registration with the Controlled Goods Program.
- Must hold a Canadian Reliability status and Secret Level 2/NATO Secret security clearance.
- Must meet U.S. ITAR requirements.
