Position: Intern, Engineering Systems (GIS Master Data)
Location: MontrealJob Summary The summer intern supporting the Engineering Master Data Team will gain hands-on experience in railway engineering while contributing to meaningful business outcomes. This role focuses on enhancing the accuracy of Engineering Master Data, which drives value through technology and process improvements. The intern will play a key part in identifying, implementing, and supporting both business processes and technological advancements within the Engineering function.
Major Responsibilities
Update CN Enterprise Plant Inventory, Systems, Applications and Products (SAP), Geographic Information System (GIS) database, and Enterprise Geographic Information System (EGIS) to reflect changes to assets for CN’s track networkIntegrate spatial and non-spatial data formats as well as apply quality control procedures to meet the rigorous accuracy and network topology standards required for safe and efficient rail operationCollate and analyze complex data from multiple sources to develop actionable insightsCommunicate between different engineering disciplines and business teams to acquire spatial data, promote GIS initiatives, and coordinate updatesCooperate and communicate with peers, field personnel, and various departmentsRequirements
Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)Collaborates with others and shares informationApplies critical thinkingIdentifies potential safety and security risksDemonstrates active listeningKnowledge of AutoCAD Map 3D and GIS topologiesKnowledge of Environmental Systems Research Institute (ESRI), ArcGIS Desktop, Arc Map Spatial Analyst, 3D Analyst, Network Analyst extensions, high precision Global Positioning System (GPS) technologies and post-processing, as well as Commercial Relational Database Management System (RDBMSs) such as Oracle*Education
Working towards a bachelor’s degree in Geography, Civil Engineering, Computer Science, or related field with geospatial emphasis* Any experience/education/skills/knowledge for theseabove would be considered as an asset
