Location: Montreal West
Job Description
Working for the Building Division, the Estimator prepares estimates of probable costs for every project in which the company has decided to enter the bidding process.
Responsibilities- review the plans, drawings and specifications;
- generate the tender price schedule, time schedule, approximate quantities required for work and materials;
- question the work methods, possible subcontracts, risks and constraints with the tender;
- attend the mandatory site visit before tendering and/or any client information meeting;
- obtain prices from the subcontractors and suppliers;
- determine all costs associated with the issuance of the bid and the special conditions;
- balance each page of the tender price schedule with the total quantities, total labour, equipment, material, subcontractors and suppliers costs;
- perform calculations for the material quantities;
- provide the Chief Estimator/Senior Estimator with the total bid amount;
- keep in touch with owners, subcontractors and suppliers for clarifications and guidelines;
- provide full construction work schedule;
- prepare the bid reviewing;
- maintain strong relationships with owners, subcontractors, suppliers, etc.
- college Degree in Civil Engineering, Architecture or comparable;
- bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Engineering is an asset;
- at least 10 years experience;
- ability to read and interpret plans, drawings and specifications;
- computer knowledge: MS Project, Timberline, Windows, Excel, Outlook, Internet, On-screen take-off;
- bilingual is an asset.
