Position: VIA Rail Senior Mechanical Engineering Role
Location: Montreal

Be at the forefront of VIA Rail's Fleet Renewal Project as a Senior Mechanical Engineering Advisor located in Montreal, Quebec. Ensure the safety and reliability of innovative rail mechanical systems.

In this permanent, full-time position, the Senior Advisor will report directly to the Director of Engineering. You will be responsible for overseeing all mechanical systems associated with VIA Rail’s new fleet of locomotives and passenger cars. With at least ten years of experience in rolling stock engineering, your expertise will guide the successful introduction of these systems into service.

Key Responsibilities:

• Review technical documentation for compliance and safety

• Validate mechanical solutions for project lifecycle

• Oversee negotiations with rolling stock manufacturers

• Support operational teams with technical oversight

• Ensure smooth transition to revenue service

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent

• 10 years' experience in rail mechanical systems

• Strong communication and stakeholder skills

• Ability to work in complex project environments

• Bilingual in French and English
