Position: Product Design Engineer (small appliances)
Location: Montreal

Our client, a designer and manufacturer of kitchen appliances, is looking for a Senior Product Design Engineer. You will lead the technical execution of a wide range of kitchen appliances from early product definition through supplier development, validation, production readiness, and launch.

Translate consumer needs into clear technical specifications and validation plans that suppliers can execute;

Review and improve supplier designs, including mechanisms, plastics, motors, PCBAs, heaters, and user interfaces;

Risk management using engineering fundamentals, DFMEA, DFM/DFA, tolerance analysis, etc. to identify and correct design risks early;

Lead technical reviews with internal stakeholders and global suppliers and manufacturers;

Define and close validation activities (performance, reliability and compliance tests) and ensure data maintenance in PLM/ERP systems;

Drive cost-optimization opportunities without compromising product performance or quality.

Requirements:

Bachelor's Mechanical, Electrical or Mechatronics Engineering;

At least 7 years of experience in consumer product development, ideally in small appliances or durable electromechanical products;

In-depth understanding of development challenges (electromechanical, thermal, electronic, plastics processing).

Proficiency in Stage-Gate, GD&T, DFMEA, DVP&R, and critical review of 3D/CAD models and BOMs;

Bilingual (English speaking suppliers in China).
