Professor in Engineering Physics

The Department of Engineering Physics at Polytechnique Montréal seeks candidates with excellent knowledge of physics and a background in engineering physics, physics, electrical engineering, chemistry, or materials science. Extensive research experience, theoretical or experimental, in health, information, energy, or environmental applications is required. The priority areas include micro/nanomaterials, functional materials, quantum technologies, physical health technologies, and optics/photonics.

The department is renowned for its teaching and research in optics, photonics, advanced materials, biomedical engineering, and nuclear and energy engineering. It offers a bachelor’s program and graduate programs in engineering physics, materials engineering, and energy engineering, supported by 23 professors and over 300 undergraduate and 130 graduate students. Experimental and numerical research facilities are world‑class.

• Hold a PhD in engineering or an equivalent field.
• Have a proven track record of developing and conducting an independent research program that will enable you to obtain funding to supervise graduate students.
• Demonstrate excellent teaching skills, preferably supported by teaching evaluations.
• Contribute positively to the department's working environment and adhere to Polytechnique's values of excellence, creativity, integrity, collaboration, respect, and openness.
• Be a member of the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec (OIQ) or take steps to become a member before submitting your tenure file.
• Have sufficient command of oral and written French, as French is the language of instruction at Polytechnique Montréal.
