Working closely with mission operations teams, you will focus on orbit determination, maneuver planning, collision avoidance, flight dynamics analysis, and the continuous improvement of operational capabilities and processes.
Key Responsibilities
Contribute to the planning and execution of satellite mission activities across all mission phases, from launch through end-of-life disposal.
Monitor potential collision risks and recommend avoidance maneuvers to protect the satellite constellation.
Improve operational processes related to satellite mission operations and flight dynamics to enhance efficiency and reliability.
Collaborate with mission operations teams to support day-to-day decision-making and safe spacecraft operations.
Provide technical guidance and mentorship to analysts within the team.
Support the development of Space Situational Awareness (SSA) capabilities, including integration with external SSA systems and data sources.
Assist with the installation, testing, and validation of Flight Dynamics Systems used for orbit determination, maneuver planning, and performance analysis.
Contribute to orbit management activities, including orbit raising, station-keeping, and end-of-life disposal planning.
Develop strategies to maintain satellites in assigned orbits while optimizing fuel and propellant consumption.
Optimize flight dynamics tools used for orbit determination, maneuver tracking, and performance assessment.
Analyze maneuver performance and propellant consumption to validate mission plans and improve future operations.
Create and maintain satellite command procedures and operational documentation.
Support automation initiatives for spacecraft flight dynamics operations.
Participate in launch, orbit-raising, and early mission operations activities, providing flight dynamics expertise and operational support.
Required Qualifications
Minimum of 6 years of experience in satellite mission operations and/or orbit dynamics.
Demonstrated expertise in satellite mission operations and satellite flight dynamics, including orbit analysis and station-keeping planning.
Bachelors degree in Engineering, Physics, or a closely related discipline.
Strong foundation in statistics, calculus, classical mechanics, and celestial mechanics.
Proficiency in computer programming related to orbit analysis, flight dynamics, or mission operations tools.
Experience performing satellite station-keeping planning and execution.
Experience with operational procedure scripting languages used for spacecraft operations and automation.
Experience administering Linux systems within a technical or mission operations environment.
Strong communication skills with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to diverse stakeholders.
