Position Overview
dormakaba is seeking an Electronics Engineer based in Montreal. The Electronics Engineer is responsible for leading the design, development, and verification of electronic hardware for our next‑generation access control and locking products. This role drives electronic architecture decisions, oversees PCB development across product life cycles, and collaborates closely with firmware, mechanical, manufacturing, and quality teams to deliver highly reliable, certifiable hardware platforms.

$100,000 - $130,000 annually

What You Will Do

Own electronic hardware architecture and system‑level design across multiple product generations

Lead schematic capture, component selection, PCB layout guidance, DFMEA reviews, and design validation planning

Design circuits including low‑power microcontroller subsystems, sensors, power supplies, battery‑powered systems, RFID/BLE/NFC front‑ends, and electro‑mechanical drive circuits

Ensure hardware is optimized for manufacturability, cost, low power consumption, RF performance, and long‑term reliability

Collaborate with firmware teams on board bring‑up, interface definition, debugging, and performance tuning

Drive compliance and certification activities (FCC/IC, UL, EMC/ESD, environmental testing)

What we require

Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related technical field and 8+ years of hands‑on electronics design experience

Strong expertise in digital and analog circuit design, power systems, and low‑power embedded electronics

Demonstrated experience with MCU‑based systems (STM
32 or similar), sensors, power management, wireless modules, and communication interfaces (UART/I2C/SPI) and proficiency with schematic and PCB tools (Altium, OrCAD, or similar)

Strong debugging skills using oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, power analyzers, and RF tools where applicable and experience shipping production hardware with full validation and certification cycles

Demonstrated ability to lead technical efforts across multiple disciplines

What we prefer

Experience working with a global multidisciplinary team

Experience with RF subsystems (BLE, NFC, RFID) and antenna layout considerations and with battery‑powered designs and ultra‑low‑power optimization techniques

Knowledge of DFM/DFT principles and high‑volume manufacturing

Experience collaborating with firmware teams on bootloaders, secure hardware, or OTA‑related circuitry

Familiarity with reliability standards and environmental durability testing and experience with PLM systems and structured release workflows
