Talent Pool – Side Montreal Studio (Senior-Level Only)

Side is building a shortlist of experienced freelance sound designers for upcoming video game and interactive media projects.

We are seeking mid and senior-level professionals who can contribute immediately, work efficiently, and deliver production-ready audio with minimal supervision. This opportunity is not intended for junior profiles. Quality and speed of work are top requirements.

As a Freelance Sound Designer, you will design, produce, and integrate high-quality audio content for video games and related media. You must be comfortable working autonomously, meeting tight deadlines, and aligning quickly with established creative direction and technical pipelines.

• Design and edit professional-quality sound assets aligned with the project’s artistic vision, game assets, within allocated time frames.
• Sync and mix audio for linear media when required
• Contribute to documentation and production tracking tools when required.
• Collaborate efficiently with internal teams and external partners

• Proven experience on shipped games.
• Strong portfolio demonstrating creative and efficient sound design.
• Advanced proficiency in a professional DAW (Reaper preferred)
• Solid understanding of interactive audio workflows.
• Ability to work quickly, efficiently, and with minimal oversight
• Strong organizational skills and respect for deadlines
• Professional fluency in either French or English
• Legal authorization to work in Quebec, Canada
• Must own and operate professional equipment, software and sound libraries.

• Integration skills in middleware or engine.
• Experience with version control systems (Git, Perforce, SVN)
• Basic scripting or technical problem-solving skills
• Familiarity with Jira, Confluence, or similar production tools
• Availability for occasional on-site collaboration

Type:
Freelance, on demand. You may accept or decline proposed mandates. There is no guarantee of regular work.

Rates are determined based on experience and project scope. Applicants must provide their expected hourly or daily rate in their application.

You must submit materials that clearly highlight your audio contributions. Cinematics driven primarily by music are not sufficient for evaluation. Demos including work of multiple contributors are not accepted as they cannot allow us to understand your contribution. Demos accompanied by detailed explanations of your work process and tools used are very welcomed. Providing stems of your demo can help us understand your process.
