The Chief Anti Money Laundering Officer (CAMLO) provides strategic direction, leadership and oversight for National Bank’s Anti-Money Laundering (AML), Anti-Terrorist Financing (ATF), Anti-Bribery and Corruption (ABC) and Economic Sanctions Compliance Programs. The CAMLO is responsible for implementing and managing compliance policies and procedures, risk assessment, monitoring and testing and employee training to detect and prevent financial crime. Your contribution is vital to maintaining the bank’s integrity and reputation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Policy Development and Implementation:
Oversee the development and implementation of policies and procedures to detect and prevent money laundering and terrorist financing. Ensure programs remain up to date to ensure organizational compliance with obligations. - Monitoring and Analysis:
Oversee processes for the ongoing monitoring of transactions and client relationships to identify and report suspicious activities. Ensure that systems and resources, including those required to identify and report suspicious transactions and suspicious attempted transactions, are sufficient across the Bank. - Training and Awareness:
Provide training and raise awareness among employees about money laundering risks and compliance procedures. Champion with all employees the strategic importance of their AML roles and responsibilities, grounded in a culture based on integrity and strong ethical values - Reporting and Filings:
Oversee reporting to regulatory authorities and ensure compliance with legal requirements. Support the escalation and handling of any material matters of non-compliance, regulator action or related compliance exposure. - Cross-department Collaboration:
Work closely with Bank departments such as compliance, risk management, and legal to ensure an integrated approach to anti-money laundering. - Team Management:
Lead and mentor a team dedicated to anti-money laundering advice and oversight, ensuring their ongoing training and professional development. - Program Management:
Lead second line oversight activities and assist first line leadership to implement and manage compliance programs for the Bank and all our subsidiaries to ensure all organizational initiatives align with current regulations and industry’s best practices. Apply an assessment process to identify inherent risks within the Programs as required, and develop appropriate measures to control identified risks.
Candidate Profile:
- In-depth knowledge of regulations:
Strong understanding of laws and regulations related to money laundering and terrorist financing, economic sanctions and ABC as well as fundamental financial crimes compliance regulatory and industry knowledge. - Analytical
Skills:
Strong analytical capability and the ability to comprehend complex business and regulatory situations. An ability to handle a multitude of tasks simultaneously and to thrive under pressure - Communication:
Excellent communication skills to train employees and collaborate with regulatory authorities and industry peers. Ability to influence diverse stakeholders and decision-makers with different operational responsibilities. - Leadership: A management style that is open, collaborative yet decisive and results-oriented.

Skills in project management to develop and implement effective compliance programs.
