About IRCM

The Montreal Clinical Research Institute (IRCM) is an internationally recognized biomedical research centre dedicated to advancing science in the service of health. Our research teams contribute to major scientific discoveries while fostering an environment where scientific excellence and collaboration drive innovation.

The IRCM is home to a specialized clinic affiliated with the CHUM, providing care for patients with complex, rare, and genetic diseases. Patients are referred to the clinic for assessment and follow-up in lipid disorders, nutrition and cardiovascular prevention, genetic dyslipidemias, diabetes, hypertension, primary immunodeficiency, and rare kidney diseases. A new Genetic Obesity Clinic is currently being developed. In addition, numerous clinical research projects are conducted within the clinic.

Through the close integration of patient care, clinical research, and teaching, as well as an interdisciplinary approach that includes nutrition, genetic counselling, and nursing care, the IRCM Clinic provides innovative, patient-centred care.

The IRCM Clinic is currently seeking a Registered Dietitian – Nutritionist to join its interdisciplinary team.

Job Overview

The Registered Dietitian – Nutritionist provides specialized nutritional care within an interdisciplinary clinical environment focused on complex and rare diseases. The successful candidate assesses patients' nutritional status, develops and implements individualized nutrition care plans aimed at preventing disease, maintaining health, or supporting recovery, and ensures appropriate follow-up.

The incumbent also contributes to clinical teaching activities and may participate in clinical research projects by providing nutritional interventions to research participants enrolled in clinical protocols. In doing so, the Dietitian supports the integration of evidence-based clinical practice, education, and research for the benefit of patients.

Responsibilities

  • Collect and analyze clinical data required to assess patients' nutritional status using appropriate assessment tools.
  • Perform complementary nutrition-related assessments, including waist circumference, anthropometric measurements, and evaluation of clinical signs, as appropriate.
  • Assess dietary intake and nutritional requirements, and interpret assessment findings.
  • Develop individualized nutrition care plans and implement appropriate intervention strategies.
  • Monitor patients' nutritional status and adjust interventions as needed.
  • Communicate with patients, families, and other health care professionals to provide education, counselling, and support, while contributing to knowledge transfer.
  • Develop educational resources for patients and health care professionals.
  • May periodically supervise clinical nutrition interns or students.

What You Bring to the Table

  • Bachelor's degree in Dietetics or Nutrition.
  • Hospital or clinical experience is considered an asset.
  • Knowledge of the clinical areas relevant to the IRCM (nutrition and related medical specialties) is an asset.
  • ODNQ prescribing authorization training is considered an asset.
