Position: Senior QA Engineer – IP Routing / Multicast

Join Ciena and help shape the future of intelligent, AI-powered networking.  We’re looking for a  hands-on Senior Test Engineer  to validate cutting-edge  IP routing and Multicast  capabilities in high-performance, virtualized network systems.
Responsibilities   Test and troubleshoot advanced IP Routing protocols, including Multicast, MVPN, PIM, SR-MPLS, BGP, IS-IS, and IPv6, within container-based microservices architectures.
Collaborate across development, QA, and customer teams to resolve complex defects efficiently.
Build automation frameworks using Python, Git, and Pytest, while exploring AI-powered testing with Gen-AI and AI/ML tools to enhance validation processes.
Contribute to test strategy, coverage, and risk-aware methodologies to strengthen quality assurance.
Deliver high-quality features for AI Connect, data center, and next-generation service provider networks in Agile sprint cycles.
Qualifications   Extensive hands-on networking experience with Multicast, MVPN, PIM, BGP, and advanced IP Routing protocols.
Proficiency in Python automation, along with experience using Git and Pytest.
Strong skills in test planning, defect management, and problem-solving.
Excellent communication and collaboration abilities.
Understanding of software development and testing processes, particularly leveraging AI to improve quality assurance.
Nice to Have   Familiarity with NETCONF/YANG protocols.
Knowledge of AI-driven testing methodologies, Generative AI, and AI/ML tools.
Experience in using AI to optimize and enhance testing processes.
Pay Range  The base salary range for this role in Ottawa is $125,000 – $142,300.
Pay ranges at Ciena are designed to accommodate variations in knowledge, skills, experience, market conditions, and locations, reflecting our diverse products, industries, and lines of business. The pay range information provided in this posting pertains specifically to the primary location listed.
Benefits and Other Remuneration  Non-Sales employees may be eligible for a discretionary incentive bonus, while Sales employees may be eligible for a sales commission.
