Elevate sign language data for AI applications as an ASL Linguist. This role utilizes your extensive ASL knowledge and involves collaboration with AI/ML teams while working independently.
The ASL Linguist at Sorenson is responsible for producing high-quality ASL data while maintaining and expanding the ASL sign dictionary. You will annotate ASL video content, lead linguistic calibration sessions, and review ASL avatar outputs. Key skills include deep ASL linguistic knowledge and comfort with annotation tools.
Key Responsibilities:
• Maintain and expand Sorenson's ASL sign dictionary
• Annotate ASL video using advanced gloss conventions
• Collaborate with AI/ML engineering teams for training data
• Review text-to-sign avatar outputs for accuracy
• Lead weekly linguistic calibration sessions
Requirements:
• Bachelor's degree in ASL Linguistics or related field
• 3 years of substantive ASL-related work experience
• Bilingual in ASL and English
• Deep knowledge of ASL linguistics
• Strong written communication skills
