Reporting to the Director – Fuel Supply and Supply Chain, the Advisor – Energy Supply participates in the sourcing, pricing, contracting, compliance, invoicing, operational management and continuous improvement of Air Canada's global aviation fuel supply portfolio. The person holding this position contributes to the management of approximately $5 billion in annual fuel expenses, ensuring security of supply at the best economic conditions while fostering supplier relationships, compliance with contractual agreements, business process automation initiatives, fuel management systems and cross-functional projects essential to Air Canada's operations and strategic objectives.

Responsibilities:
Fuel supply, pricing and supplier management
  • Conduct market research and analyze the supply market to support sourcing decisions and purchasing strategies.
  • Be responsible for supplier selection, invoice validation and authorizations for all aspects related to aviation fuel supply and the supply chain.
  • Monitor aviation fuel market fundamentals, factors influencing raw material prices, freight costs, geopolitical developments and industry trends.
  • Participate in the evaluation, negotiation, implementation and management of global fuel supply agreements.
  • Participate in supplier selection processes, calls for tenders, bid evaluation and commercial negotiations.
  • Contribute to managing supplier relationships and monitoring their performance to ensure security of supply and continuous improvement.
  • Contribute to aviation fuel price analysis, benchmarking and commercial evaluations to facilitate optimal purchasing decisions.
Contracts, governance and compliance
  • Participate in the drafting, review, implementation and management of fuel supply contracts and related commercial agreements.
  • Ensure that sourcing activities comply with strategic sourcing policies, governance requirements and company procedures.
  • Support contract lifecycle management activities, including documentation, endorsements, audits and compliance reporting.
  • Perform due diligence with suppliers and participate in supplier audits and corrective action programs.
  • Maintain contractual records and purchasing documentation using approved systems and tools.
Operational fuel supply and fuel management system
  • Support the planning and execution of national and international aviation fuel supply activities.
  • Monitor supply performance, inventory levels, fuel quality compliance and operational risks.
  • Coordinate corrective actions related to supply, quality, logistics or supplier performance issues.
  • Play an essential role within the fuel management system (PAICE), supporting data integrity, reporting, user needs, system improvement and process improvement.
  • Keep abreast of fuel handling standards, technical specifications and Air Canada operational requirements.
Business automation and process improvement
  • Identify opportunities for process, control, reporting and operational efficiency improvements.
  • Contribute to business process automation initiatives by documenting operational requirements, supporting testing activities and collaborating with technical teams and business units.
  • Participate in the development and improvement of digital tools, analytical tools, dashboards and workflow automation solutions for fuel and supply operations.
  • Support organizational initiatives focused on continuous improvement, standardization and operational excellence.
Cross-functional collaboration
  • Collaborate with Airport Operations, Supply Chain Operations, Finance, Strategic Sourcing, Legal Affairs, Safety, Technology, Tax, Customs teams as well as external suppliers to contribute to the achievement of business objectives.
  • Provide analytical and operational support for projects and priorities that do not fall within usual daily activities.
