Yacht Maintenance Coordinator
Location and Work Environment
This is a full‑time, shore‑based role located at the base in Road Town, Tortola, the heart of the beautiful British Virgin Islands, the sailing capital of the world. We offer a competitive salary in USD and an easy‑going work environment. The position is perfect for someone who loves being on the water and wants to live in flip‑flop weather all year round.
Role OverviewIn this role you will be the backbone of the company, responsible for ensuring yachts undergo maintenance checks prior to charter start. You will debrief charter guests, process work sheets, check that turnarounds are completed, deal with service calls, coordinate maintenance work with external vendors and suppliers, complete insurance compliance, and move boats. When required, you will also brief customers on yacht systems, delivering a high level of customer service.
TrainingPeriod
- Develop a solid understanding of various yacht systems and their operation, and related common troubleshooting.
- Learn to turnaround all yachts in the fleet.
- Check that yachts are prepped and ready for charter.
- Learn to move boats on and off docks safely without incidents.
- Learn to brief and debrief boats.
- Deliver briefs for charter starts and debrief clients independently.
- Identify maintenance issues on boats and update turnaround sheets.
- Improve your yacht technical knowledge to diagnose and repair maintenance issues.
- Check turnarounds are completed and deal with service calls.
- Coordinate external vendors and suppliers, complete insurance compliance, and move boats.
- Assist with hurricaneing the fleet in the off‑season and taking them to safe storage.
- Assist with base projects as required by the Operations Manager.
- Assist with turnarounds and maintenance projects as required by the Operations Manager.
- Experience maintaining inboard diesel engines and 2‑ and 4‑stroke outboards.
- Working knowledge of 12 v DC and 120 v AC electrical systems.
- Understanding of marine plumbing systems.
- Air conditioning and refrigeration troubleshooting and repair.
- Experience working with similar yachts; manoeuvring yachts will be required.
- Practically minded, a good fault finder, with a proactive attitude to solving problems.
- Ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines.
- Well organised and able to prioritise effectively.
