Position Description
The Industrial Engineer Technologist is responsible for the development, improvement, implementation and evaluation of processes within the manufacturing area of the business as well as being responsible for the input and maintenance of the Engineering and Production data within the ERP and the Leadtec system.
Key Responsibilities:
Establish labor standards through methods analysis and time studies and resolve questions relating to job utilization and performance.Present new labour standards to employees and the Union, and present and defend findings when a grievance is filed.Recommends methods for improving workers efficiency and reducing waste of materials and utilities.Restructuring job duties, reorganizing workflow, relocating workstations / equipment, and purchasing and inventory of equipment.Determine how best to use the work force to achieve maximum productivity.Provides ongoing recommendations for productivity improvement.Establish costs and methods for new styles.Develop, monitor and improve our manufacturing process ensuring the highest quality and the lowest cost products are produced using best practices such as Lean Manufacturing.Demonstrate leadership by mentoring production staff and promote knowledge transfer between teams.Implement new lay outs as required.Maintain KPI executive files with savings for the fiscal yearBe fully competent in Leadtec shop floor control system and be able to train operators and staff in its use.Mapping multi-level BOMs in D365Audit Engineering project listPerform monthly floor audits, 5S complianceUpdate the Industrial Engineer meetings fileMaintain Engineering data within the Leadtec system, including operations and style files.Print and distribute reports on a daily and weekly basis.Monitor operators daily and weekly efficienciesFollow any instructions provided by Industrial Engineering ManagerWorking Conditions
Ability to prioritize, multi-task, operate proactively, work as a team and handle challenges.Excellent common sense, decision-making abilities, interpersonal and analytical skills.Ability to evaluate options and generate solutions.Confident, articulate, organized, detail oriented, goal oriented, self-motivated and hard working.Must be familiar with computers and business software such as MS Office, Excel, CAD, and ERP software.Experience
At least 1 year of experience as an Industrial Engineer in a manufacturing environment.Apparel manufacturing experience preferred.Qualifications
Experience in a union environment is an asset.Hands on experience applying Lean Manufacturing principles.Excellent communication skills with a “Can do” attitude.Exceptional leadership skills, problem-solving abilities.Strong capabilities in planning, organizing and process control.#LI-DNI
Education
Bachelor’s Degree in industrial engineering.
