Senior Packaging Development Specialist

As the Senior Packaging Development Specialist, you will collaborate with the design and production departments, and liaise with marketing consultants, while being responsible for designing artwork for packaging, creating labeling and packaging tech packs, sourcing new printing materials, communicating with offshore suppliers and more.

• Create packaging and labelling tech packs in accordance with customer requirements, company standards, and all applicable regulatory requirements.
• Prepare packaging instructions and verify packaging, labelling, UPC, price ticket, and layout accuracy prior to production.
• Design and develop packaging artwork, including belly bands, boxes, labels, PDQs, and other packaging components; prepare mock-ups when required.
• Ensure compliance with labelling regulations and packaging requirements for all applicable countries, customers, and retailers. Communicate updates and changes to overseas offices and factories as needed.
• Support RFID testing submissions, including completion of required documentation, placement images, videos, and GTIN information.
• Review and approve packaging specifications, folding methods, packaging configurations, vendor pack details, hooks, SKUs, customer POs, and shipment release requirements.
• Provide creative and technical support for packaging-related materials, including artwork, photography, die-lines, graphics, and size charts.
• Research and evaluate emerging packaging trends, materials, finishes, structural designs, and retail presentation concepts to drive continuous improvement and innovation.
• Develop innovative packaging and PDQ solutions that enhance product presentation, shelf impact, consumer appeal, and shopability while remaining cost-effective and production-friendly.
• Collaborate with Sales, Design, Production, suppliers, and external partners to transform creative concepts into practical, executable packaging solutions.
• Continuously identify opportunities to improve packaging design through graphics, imagery, color, layout, materials, and structural enhancements while maintaining customer and regulatory compliance.
• Monitor competitor, retailer, and industry packaging trends and proactively recommend new ideas, concepts, and best practices to improve product presentation and packaging performance.

• Confirm image requirements with sales team and prioritize requests based on deadlines and business needs
• Gather all necessary reference materials to share with freelancer: product boards, prints, colors, garment details, etc.
• Request and then confirm all required model and product images (front, side, detail shots)
• Calculate and share how many images are needed in total
• Provide format & specifications of pictures required by retailer
• Ensure images accurately represent the final production product
• Verify garment construction, artwork, colors, prints, trims and proportions
• Ensure required image specifications are met: high resolution, white background, format, dimensions, etc.
• Review images for accuracy and quality before final delivery
• Coordinate corrections/revisions when images are not accurate
• Organize and name final image files by customer/program/style
• Track outstanding images, revisions and deadlines
• Deliver approved final images to the appropriate design team for approval
• Maintain an organized archive of completed marketing images

• 3–5 years of experience in packaging development, graphic design, production design, packaging artwork, or a related role, preferably within apparel, consumer goods, retail, or a product-based environment.
