We specialize in the repair, conversion, and refurbishment of rolling railway equipment (various types of wagons and locomotives) with workshops and offices in Montreal (Lachine area) and Alberta (under the Caltrax banner).
Over the years, our mission has evolved to become a responsible company focused on repairing and extending the lifespan of equipment entrusted to us by our clients. In many cases, we modernize these assets, essentially giving them a second life.
Our teams design equipment that meets the needs of both freight and passenger clients.
Job SummaryAs a Projects Quality Manager, you are responsible for the overall quality performance of a major project or several smaller projects. You ensure compliance with contractual and regulatory requirements and coordinate QA/QC activities with internal teams and the client. This is a functional and cross-functional role focused on strategic QA coordination and project quality monitoring, without direct hierarchical responsibility. You play a key role in project performance by managing communication, quality planning, and client satisfaction.
MainResponsibilities Leadership
- Define and implement the quality strategy for the assigned project.
- Ensure compliance with contractual, regulatory, and internal requirements.
- Act as the quality representative with the client.
- Prepare for and manage external inspections and audits.
- Collaborate with Engineering, Production, and Planning to anticipate quality needs.
- Integrate QA requirements into operational processes.
- Liaise with the QC supervisor for inspection planning and follow-up (without direct supervision).
- Perform any other relevant tasks as required.
- Analyze root causes and follow up on corrective actions.
- Ensure effective closure of NCRs and prevent recurrence.
- Maintain project quality KPIs and prepare reports for management and the client.
- Communicate quality risks and action plans.
- Participate in project meetings, contribute to overall quality strategy, and share best practices.
- Promote quality best practices within the organization.
- Perform any other related tasks.
- 3 to 5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably in the transportation or rail industry;
- 3 to 5 years of experience in operational quality, including at least 2 years in project management or client coordination;
- Engineering degree or equivalent;
- AAR (Association of American Railroads) training (an asset);
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite (primarily Access, Excel, Word, and Outlook);
- Knowledge of industry-specific standards and regulations in the rail sector;
- Familiarity with rail manufacturing processes and quality tools (NCR, CAPA); advanced MS Office skills (an asset);
- The candidate must be able to communicate well in English (50% of the time), as his or her duties require interaction with stakeholders and colleagues outside Quebec and Canada.
