Job Summary IPEX operates manufacturing plants across Canada and the United States and maintains an Integrated Management System (IMS) aligned with international standards for quality, environmental, and health & safety management (ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and ISO 45001).Reporting to the North American Quality Manager, this role is based at either our Nuns’ Island or Oakville office and involves regular visits to our plants.
The successful candidate will lead multidisciplinary and cross-functional teams within IPEX’s extrusion, molding, and fabrication plants, as well as collaborate with suppliers and service providers. Strong leadership skills are essential to drive engagement and performance across all stakeholders.
As a change agent, analytical problem solver, and exceptional communicator, the incumbent will play a key role in implementing, training, deploying, and continuously improving the IMS. He or she will foster a culture of prevention and continuous improvement while ensuring that products an services consistently comply with internal and external requirements for quality, health & safety, and environmental standards.
Key Responsibilities Adhere to all company requirements, quality team procedures, and assigned tasks within other processes.
Initiate and lead training programs to enhance and standardize plant employees’ skills in quality control tools and IMS management (e.g., risk analysis, root cause analysis, CAPA, FMEA, Gage R&R, DPMO, DPPM, Cp, Cpk, A3, 8D, 5 Why, DMAIC, Kaizen, 5S).Utilize qualitative and quantitative analyses, including statistical techniques, identify problems, determine root causes, implement corrective and preventive actions, and improve plant performance, processes, procedures, and records.
Organize and lead regular meetings with plant process managers to exchange best practices, lessons learned and explore opportunities for standardization and simplification of procedures and records.
Oversee the integration of all IPEX plants into the corporate ISO 9001 quality certification.
Initiate and lead improvements across IPEX and Aliaxis processes to ensure IMS compliance with international standards for quality, environmental, and occupational health & safety management.
Train multidisciplinary teams of IMS auditors, plan and lead internal audits, and leverage audit results to drive system improvements.
Ensure root causes of non-conformities are identified, and corrective/preventive actions are implemented.
Support Strategic Sourcing by conducting supplier qualification audits, issuing and monitoring SCARs for closure, and applying PPAP for purchased items, including first-item inspections.
Work closely with other processes to support projects and achieve corporate objectives.
Serve as the primary reference for product quality within IPEX, regularly visiting plants to improve processes, assisting managers with problem analysis, root cause identification, and implementing preventive actions for non-conformities and customer complaints.
Carry out any other responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications University degree in Engineering or Science.
Green Belt in Lean Six Sigma.
Higher education degrees in Engineering, Safety, or technical discipline are considered an asset.
Certified Internal Auditor for ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and ISO 45001 standards.
Certified Lead Auditor, for ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and ISO 45001, is an asset.
Minimum of 5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment.
Proven experience working with multidisciplinary and cross-functional teams.
Strong ability to analyze and interpret data, applying statistical controls effectively.
Proficient in DMAIC, 8D, 5 Whys, Ishikawa, 5S, and other quality improvement methodologies.
Skills in Microsoft 365 tools, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, MS Teams, and SharePoint.
Experience with Minitab is considered an asset.
Highly structured and autonomous, with strong capabilities in work organization, prioritization, project management, negotiation, and problem-solving.
