RESEARCH INSTITUTE OF THE MUHC
The Research Institute of the McGill University Health Centre (RI-MUHC) is a world-renowned biomedical and hospital research centre. Located in Montreal, Quebec, the Institute is the research arm of the McGill University Health Centre (MUHC) affiliated with the Faculty of Medicine at McGill University. Position summary

Cancer Research Program (CRP)
The Liquid Biopsy Unit (LBU) is a collaborative, translational research unit aimed at accelerating the discovery, validation, and implementation of liquid biopsy cancer biomarkers into clinical workflows. The laboratory technician will be immediately supervised by the Manager of the LBU and will perform the daily technical operations of the unit. The incumbent will undertake supporting all collaborative research projects that the LBU engages in.
Primary responsibilities involve liquid biopsy assay development, execution, analysis and generation of reports/presentations of results.
General Duties
• Leads execution of research projects and experiments. Performs a variety of specialized technical tasks according to established methodology in fields such as molecular biology, biochemistry and chemistry,
• Prepares and sets up materials and equipment. Performs a variety of assays, analyses and tests such as nucleic acid extraction, droplet digital PCR, library preparation and enrichment for NGS, nucleic acid quality control, and other molecular biology techniques,
• Troubleshoot technical problems, propose and implement solutions,
• Records results, performs calculations and compiles data. Maintains an organized record of experimentation and analysis,
• Generates reports and presentations of results,
• Writes SOPs and reviews written communications related to the unit,
• Demonstrates the operation of apparatus or techniques,
• Uses a variety of equipment and maintains and arranges for servicing when required,
• Ensures the cleanliness and safety of the work area,
• Maintains inventory and establishes new inventories when required,
• Keeps abreast of new developments in the liquid biopsy field to update skills, knowledge and develop new liquid biopsy assays,
• Accomplishes any other related tasks as required by the immediate supervisor.

Master's Degree
Field of Study:
Biology, Biochemistry, Experimental Medicine, or related field.
Other education considered an asset for this position:
Expertise in liquid biopsy-related methods and analyses ( ctDNA/RNA quantification, library preparation for NGS).

1-2 years
