Job Description RESEARCH INSTITUTE OF THE MUHC

The Research Institute of the McGill University Health Centre (RI-MUHC) is a world-renowned biomedical and hospital research centre. Located in Montreal, Quebec, the Institute is the research arm of the McGill University Health Centre (MUHC) affiliated with the Faculty of Medicine at McGill University. Introduction

Department / Research Program: IDIGH, Translational Research in Inflammatory Bowel Disease.

The Postdoctoral Fellow will join the Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) Research Program at McGill University under the supervision of Dr. Matthieu Allez, Bruce Kaufman IBD Research Chair at McGill University. Our program combines clinical investigation, translational research, and advanced data science to address fundamental questions regarding disease pathogenesis, treatment response, disease progression, and postoperative recurrence. By integrating large-scale clinical cohorts with cutting-edge molecular and imaging technologies, we aim to develop a more precise and mechanistic understanding of IBD and to accelerate the implementation of personalized treatment strategies.

Responsabilities

And Objectives
  • Participate in research projects focused on Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis.
  • Conduct computational and systems biology analyses of large-scale multi-omics datasets, including transcriptomics, proteomics, and other molecular profiling approaches, and integrate these data with detailed clinical, endoscopic, imaging, and pathological phenotypes from large prospective IBD cohorts.
  • Contribute to research projects focused on biomarker discovery, host-microbiome interactions, spatial biology, systems biology, and precision medicine.
  • Develop and apply advanced analytical approaches to identify molecular signatures, disease endotypes, and predictors of treatment response and disease progression.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including clinician-scientists, immunologists, microbiologists, pathologists, bioinformaticians, and biostatisticians.
  • Contribute to the dissemination of research findings through scientific publications and presentations at national and international conferences.
  • Participate in the supervision and training of graduate students and research trainee.

Requirements

A Postdoctoral fellow is a full-time student currently enrolled in a Canadian University program. The individual must have recently been awarded (within 5 years) a PhD or equivalent. The Postdoctoral fellow will receive a stipend or a bursary from a professor’s grant for research activities that will be performed on a full-time basis. All benefits are administered by the University under which they are registered.

  • Must hold a PhD awarded (within last 5 years) a PhD or equivalent
  • Must be registered as a Postdoctoral Fellow with McGill University.

Field of Study:
Computational and Systems Biology in IBD

Required Skills
  • Strong intellectual and scientific rigor.
  • Strong interest in translational biomedical research
  • Strong quantitative, analytical, and scientific writing skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary environment.
  • Excellent English written and oral communication skills in English.
  • Knowledge of French written and oral communications skills is required.
  • Experience with statistical analysis, bioinformatics, R, Python, or analysis of large clinical and biological datasets considered an asset.

Temporary, full time

Compensation Level:

$55,000
