Located in Montreal, Quebec, the Institute is the research arm of the McGill University Health Centre (MUHC) affiliated with the Faculty of Medicine at McGill University. The RI-MUHC is supported in part by the Fonds de recherche du Québec - Santé (FRQS).

Introduction

Department / Research Program: CHAL

The Research Institute of the McGill University Health Centre (RI-MUHC) is an internationally recognized biomedical and health research institution affiliated with McGill University. The RI-MUHC brings together basic, clinical, and population health research with the goal of accelerating the translation of scientific discoveries into improved patient care.

Our laboratory, lead by Dr. Stella Daskalopoulou, conducts highly translational cardiovascular research, connecting patient-based clinical studies and deeply phenotyped biobanks with molecular, cellular, and multi-omic investigation. We are a high-performing, fast-paced, multidisciplinary and collaborative research team working at the intersection of cardiovascular medicine, vascular biology, immunology, and precision medicine.

Our laboratory houses two major research biobanks, PULSE and ARTERY, providing access to extensively characterized patient populations, longitudinal clinical data, biological samples, vascular phenotyping, and molecular datasets.

Our research focuses on hypertension, preeclampsia and hypertensive disorders of pregnancy, atherosclerosis, carotid plaque instability, vascular biology, cardiovascular disease, and cardiovascular–immune interactions.

Importantly, our research projects are fully funded, with established infrastructure, samples, and datasets available to support the successful candidate's work. Additional opportunities are available to compete for internal fellowships and research funding, supporting career development and increasing scientific independence.

Role Description

We are seeking a highly motivated Postdoctoral Researcher with a strong interest in multi-omics and translational cardiovascular research to join our team in Montréal, Québec.

The successful candidate will contribute to projects integrating multi-omic, molecular, clinical, and vascular phenotyping data to investigate mechanisms underlying cardiovascular disease and identify clinically relevant biomarkers and pathways.

Depending on expertise and research interests, projects may focus on hypertension, preeclampsia and cardiovascular health following pregnancy, atherosclerosis and carotid plaque instability, vascular biology, immune–vascular interactions, or the integration of multiple molecular layers to better understand cardiovascular disease

Responsibilities And Objectives
  • Lead and contribute to multi-omic analyses, including genomics, transcriptomics, proteomics, metabolomics, lipidomics and related molecular datasets.
  • Integrate molecular findings with clinical, vascular, imaging and phenotypic data from our established cohorts and biobanks.
  • Develop and test research hypotheses using existing datasets and biological samples.
  • Contribute to experimental validation and translational studies connecting molecular findings with cardiovascular mechanisms and patient outcomes.
  • Perform advanced statistical, bioinformatic and computational analyses.
  • Work closely with clinicians, cardiovascular scientists, molecular biologists, bioinformaticians, data scientists and other collaborators.
  • Prepare manuscripts for publication in peer-reviewed journals and present findings at national and international scientific meetings.
